How heavy is a city?
DEFINITIVE SOLUTIONSydney-based architectural duo Besley-Spresser was selected for the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and invited Asbeter to supply circular building materials from the AC Minerals process for this exhibition. This complete breakdown of asbestos fibers allows thousands of millions of tons of cement to be recovered and reused in a CO2-neutral manner.
Under the title "How Heavy Is a City?", the 7th Lisbon Architecture Triennale transforms the city into the global epicenter of architecture. Until December 8th, three main exhibitions and dozens of independent projects will map what will make urban life possible in the future.
What might cities look like in the future, as the pressures of the climate crisis and population growth intensify?
During the press conference at the Money Museum, José Mateus, president of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, emphasized: "More than ever, we must harness the multidisciplinary nature of architecture and work with advanced knowledge platforms to approach the city as a whole. Our seventh edition, How Heavy Is a City?, initiates reflection and poses questions; the rest of the 21st century will provide us with the answers."
Part of that answer for circular cement materials will come from the Netherlands, once the AC Minerals factory in Moerdijk becomes operational in 2027.
